چکیده

The patients most often present widespead disease at diagnosis, with nodal and extranodal (bone marrow) involvement. Peripheral blood involvement is detectable by light microscopy in approximately 10% of the cases, but the majority of cases can be shown to have circulating malignant cells by sensitive molecular genetic methods. The disease usually runs an indolent course. Grade 3 FL may be characterized by earlier relapse, especially if treated with regimens not including an anthracycline drug.

Primary Follicular Lymphoma of the Conjunctiva in a 12 Year-Old Male

Abstract Background Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the second most common adnexal lymphoma of the eye that almost all of them are reported in elderly patients. Primary FL of the eye has been reported in only two children. Pediatric FL appears to be biologically distinct from typical adult FL. In cases without other organ involvement excision alone with close monitoring is a treatment of choic...

Transformation of follicular lymphoma to plasmablastic lymphoma with c-myc gene rearrangement.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) is an indolent lymphoma that transforms to high-grade lymphoma, mostly diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, in about a third of patients. We present the first report of a case of FL that transformed to plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL). Clonal transformation of the FL to PBL was evidenced by identical IGH/BCL2 gene rearrangements and VDJ gene usage in rearranged IGH genes. IGH/ BC...

Follicular Lymphoma: The Role of the Tumor Microenvironment in Prognosis.

The microenvironment of follicular lymphoma (FL) is composed of tumor-infiltrating CD8(+) T cells, follicular regulatory T cells, lymphoma-associated macrophages and mast cells, follicular helper T cells, follicular dendritic cells, and follicular reticular cells, all of which have been reported to have relevance in the prognosis of FL patients. In addition, some of these cells play a role in t...

T follicular helper cells: a potential therapeutic target in follicular lymphoma

Follicular lymphoma (FL), the most common indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL), is a germinal center (GC)-derived lymphoma. The mechanisms underlying B-cell differentiation/maturation in GCs could be also involved in their malignant transformation. Moreover, the non-malignant cell composition and architecture of the tumor microenvironment can influence FL development and outcome. Here, ...

Cytomorphologic, immunohistochemical, and cytogenetic profiles of follicular lymphoma: 2 types of follicular lymphoma grade 3.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) grades 1 and 2 are regarded as a distinct disease entity, whereas data suggest that FL grade 3 might be an inhomogeneous tumor category. To define the biologic spectrum of FL, 89 follicular lymphomas were studied for their cytologic composition, antigen expression, mitotic and proliferation indices, cytogenetics, and clinical data. In contrast to the homogeneous appeara...
